i can see the lights of the next town up ahead

following the city lights against the low laying clouds. it's getting late and my eyes are beginning to burn. the countdown is on.

first, the lights of kalamazoo and the many memories i have with that city and a silly girl. memories of drives and anticipation of wanting to be there now. now i want it to go by so i can go home.

next up the road is the cereal capital of the world, battle creek. i remind myself that i seriously need to go do the tour of tony the tiger's place.

coming up the line is jackson. i think of crazy man ted nugent and his love of hunting and being there as a kid hunting with my dad with my moon boots on. i remember my puppy, lady. she was my beagle puppy that i got to pick out, but we lost her there in jackson when she picked up the scent of a deer and was never found.

finally, the lights of ann arbor and knowing i'll be home soon. i fondly remember playing in this tiny basement in front of what seemes like a thoudsand kids. it was in this crazy, big house that a bunch of ann arbor punk rock kids rented and had shows on the weekends to let off a little steam.

next exit, southfield road. goodness, did i cruise through michigan already? where the hell did all this snow come from? when i left it was sunny and 42 degrees.
